Austrian pine is a large evergreen tree. It looks similar to the native ponderosa pine, but has more branches and a denser appearance. Ponderosa pine requires less water than Austrian pine.

Austrian pine has beautiful long, dark green needles. The branches grow horizontally and sweep up gently. They are easy to grow if given regular moisture.

This is an excellent choice for a large pine in the Pikes Peak region. It should be planted in an area where it will receive regular moisture. The tree growing at the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden has done very well.

Prune when young to create a healthy, well-shaped tree. No other maintenance required.
