Blue tussock bellflower is a very low-growing plant with a spreading habit. Upward facing, blue bell-shaped flowers are produced on upright flower stalks. The triangular leaves are bright green and have toothed edges. This is a tough plant that can be used successfully in the Colorado Springs area if it receives regular moisture.

Blue tussock bellflower has grown at the Xeriscape Garden for many years. To flower regularly, it needs frequent division and regular watering. The flowers are very attractive.

Removing the spent flowers encourages encourages continual flower production throughout the summer. Divide every three or four years to promote vigorous growth since it dies out in the center as it ages.
