Hubricht's blue star is an attractive perennial flower.

Having won several awards from plant associations, it has three nice qualities. First, it has thin, thread-like leaves on upright, arching stems. Second, in spring it produces powdery blue, star-like flowers at the ends of the stems. Third, in fall the leaves turn a gorgeous bright gold.

Hubricht's bluestar is an erect, clump-forming plant and very easy to care for.

There is one Hubricht's blue star growing at the Xeriscape Garden. It is quite beautiful. It is most eye-catching in fall when the leaves turn a radiant gold color.

Although it may be difficult to find for sale at nurseries, it is worth planting. It takes several years for the plant to fill in after transplanting. Expect to wait three years until it becomes a mature, full plant.

Cut stems to ground level in late winter before new growth begins in spring.
