Orange Carpet hummingbird trumpet is a rapidly spreading variety of hardy fuchsia. It forms a low groundcover of fuzzy, thin, green leaves.

From mid summer to fall, it is covered with masses of small, orange, trumpet-shaped blossoms appearing on the last few inches of each stem.

This plant spreads by underground rhizomes and can fill in an area, making it a good groundcover.

Orange Carpet hummingbird trumpet has beautiful showy flowers for a long period of time in the later summer. It makes a good groundcover since it can fill in an area. It also is a favorite plant for hummingbirds.

Every few years, it gets terribly eaten by flea beetles, which destroys its ornamental value for that growing season if left untreated. It recovers the following year. Otherwise, it is a fantastic, resilient, low water groundcover.

Remove old leaves and stems in the early spring before new growth starts.
