This plant is grown for its attractive leaves. The deeply divided foliage are lemon yellow splashed with green. It has a lacy appearance. The flowers are insignificant. It makes a nice companion as a background for other perennial flowers and ornamental grasses.

If given optimal growing conditions, Oriental limelight sage may spread aggressively through undergrounds stems into a large colony. It may outcompete other plants, so plant it in a spot where its aggressive nature will not become problematic.

Oriental limelight sage has grown very well at the Xeriscape Garden. It has spread into a colony through underground stems. We dig out undesirable runners each year to contain the plant.

Faded flower stalks can be cut back, if desired. May need to cut back to new growth is spring.
