Sunburst ice plant creates a compact and shimmering mound of soft pink flowers with white centers in early summer. The leaves are a bit taller than other iceplants.
At the Xeriscape Garden, we have planted starburst iceplant repeatedly throughout various areas of the garden. Only a few plants have overwintered reliably. Although most catalogs report it is one of the hardiest iceplants available, we have had better luck with Table Mountain iceplant, Lavender Ice iceplant and others.
No maintenance is required, except raking debris off the plant as needed. Be sure to plant this in an area with excellent drainage and pea gravel mulch. Some iceplants perform poorly in wood or bark mulch.
